Glen Osmond

The Monastery has been home to the Passionist Community since 1896, the parish beginning in 1958. St Raphael’s at Parkside was originally under the care of the Passionists, but was handed over to the diocese in 1927/28. In 2001, the Parkside community, including St Raphael’s Primary School, were incorporated into the Parish of St Paul of the Cross.

The Passionists conduct a number of ministries from the Monastery. All these ministries incorporate a common vision. Our Monastery Mission encourages us “to make the Monastery a home of peace, prayer, solitude, and hospitality, so as to provide mutual support and encouragement for this community, the wider Passionist family, and all with whom we minister. May all we do be done with the compassion in the Spirit of Christ crucified”.

In addition mass, weddings, baptisms and funerals being conducted in the beautiful chapel at the Monastery the site is also home to a small but vibrant Passionist community and the Australian noviciate. For more information please visit the St Paul of the Cross website.

One of the highlights of the Monastery is the stunning and tranquil Sacred Garden which contains 14 exquisite Cararra marble carvings depicting the Stations of the Cross set in a manicured garden. Visit the Sacred Garden website.
