Readings:
Sts.Simon and Jude
Ephesians 2:19-22
Luke 6:12-19
Reflection:
Two men about whom we know almost absolutely nothing, are remembered for their holiness 2,000 year later.
Jude – whose name is actually Judas – is the patron saint for impossible situations.
Well, the thought that I might one day be a saint….? Perhaps there is hope!!
And Simon the Zealot -the Zealots were conducting their own war of liberation, killing Romans and any of the Jewish people who collaborated. Their violence led to the destruction of Jerusalem, 40 years after the crucifixion of Jesus, the preacher of non-violence.
Well, my self-righteous conviction that it’s my way or the highway isn’t the way to change the world or the Church. I might actually, occasionally, be wrong!! God doesn’t need zealots!
