Readings:
Isaiah 4:2-6
Matthew 8:5-11
Reflection:
Our readings these last few Sundays, and during the coming weeks of Advent are about the last Judgement and the coming of Christ. So much of the imagery around the ‘end of time’ and the coming again of Jesus is filled with fear, judgments, destruction – like the aftermath of a nuclear war.
Our reading today reminds us what we are waiting for is for all our dreams to come true. All that’s we have longed for, waited for will finally be there for us.
All that has been good and life giving will continue, all that has been frail and fragile will be strengthened, all that had died will be brought to life, and anything wanting will be made up. When God comes at last, then at last He will be free to work his wonders. All we have to do is to get out of the way, and let God be God.
And all this can begin today, this very minute, just let Christ get into the driver’s seat of your life and take control.
