Readings:
Acts 16:22-34
John 16:5-11
Reflection:
“Sometimes when I read the gospel reading for the week and go to share my reflection on it, I am at a loss for words. Sometimes it is due to how much I find the message strikes true and at other times it is because I am actually unsure of how to understand what Jesus is saying to me. This time, it is the latter.Â
And it is in this fact that my reflection begins. How often is it that we struggle to understand the message Jesus tries to convey to us, the message of the way, the truth and the life. My understanding of the reading is that Jesus is telling his followers that he will be leaving and that he understands that they will struggle to understand this.Â
I find that I often struggle to understand Jesus’ call to me. I know I have purpose in my work and my new family, but also to know the true direction forward is something that I struggle to know.Â
Perhaps the question is answered in the struggle, and as a product of my time, I demand answers now! I pray for patience in knowing the true way forward and hope that Jesus is there with everyone reading now, that they come to answer your prayers and show you the way forward, even if we can struggle to understand at times”.
