12th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Readings:
Jeremiah 20:10-13
Romans 5:12-15
Matthew 10:26-33
Reflection:
As a school kid, I had a little prayer book, which contained a Prayer, ‘Never Known to Fail’. You had to pray it for forty days.
Like lots of school kids back then, we ‘paid a visit’ to the church before walking across the road into school.
I prayed that prayer for quite a few years. Sometimes I got what I prayed for. Often, I never got what I prayed for. But every prayer I prayed was answered. Because when I left the church to cross the road, I knew that God knew what I needed. And because I knew that God knew, I knew that God cared. And I knew that because God cared, everything would be OK, somehow.
We are truly worth more than a sparrow,
But it’s nice to know that God cares even for them.
