Reflection

“For wherever your treasure is, there will your heart be too”

Life teaches us, that what we think will bring us happiness, success and contentment can be taken away from us with “a blink of an eye” We only need to look at what has happened in our country and in the world over the last two years e.g. bushfires, droughts, floods, Covid and recently the war in Ukraine etc. In all these tragic events people lost loved ones, homes, inner peace, health, and many people even lost their own lives.

My question is what do I value /treasure and what am I passionate about?
What we are passionate about comes from deep within each one of us i.e within our heart. Our hearts are at the centre of each one of us and it is here that our values, desires etc come from.

As Passionist spirituality is heart centred we need to look deep within ourselves and evaluate what drives us? What do we treasure/value, fame, fortune, people’s approval etc. Or are we seeking to deepen our relationship with God and try to live a more Christ centred life and build healthy relationships with family, friends, community, and ourselves.

If we are in right relationship with God and others, we find contentment and peace. If our desires are not coming from a “good place “we can experience anxiety and depression because we can’t achieve what we are desiring.
Today let us reflect on: Where is my heart? What am I Passionate about? What drives me? What do I treasure?
