Reflection:
“Looking at today’s reading gives me a lot to think about. As a young person, I feel like there’s a lot of pressure to look good on the outside—whether it’s through social media, fashion, or just fitting in. But in this passage, Jesus reminds us that what truly matters isn’t what’s on the outside but what’s inside our hearts. It’s easy to focus on following rules or looking like a “good person,” but Jesus makes it clear that real purity isn’t about appearances—it’s about our thoughts, intentions, and actions.
I find it interesting that Jesus says all foods are clean because it shows that God isn’t interested in meaningless restrictions but in true change. What really defiles us is things like pride, jealousy, and dishonesty—things that can slowly take over our hearts if we’re not careful. It makes me reflect on my own life: Am I more focused on looking right or actually being right with God?
This passage challenges me to examine my heart. Am I holding onto grudges? Am I being honest? Am I showing kindness? True faith isn’t about checking off religious boxes—it’s about letting God transform us from the inside out. That’s what really matters.
