Christmas Day
Readings:
Titus 2:11-14
Isaiah 9:1-7
Luke 2:1-14
Reflection:
I hope on Christmas Day you have so many other things to do – seeing loved ones, singing carols, watching children opening presents, visiting the Christmas crib at your church, sharing with people for whom Christmas is a challenge, enjoying Christmas pudding with threepences and sixpences hidden under the brandy custard, remembering loved ones in heaven, celebrating mass and receiving Christ into your heart at communion.
I really don’t think you will have time today to read this. So, if it is Christmas Day, listen again tomorrow when things are more quiet; and if it’s Boxing Day, after Panadol, a strong coffee and cleaning up, and before starting the gun of the Sydney-Hobart or the first ball of the Boxing Day Cricket, go find a quiet place, set aside some quiet time, turn up the volume and listen.
It took a thousand people to make this joyous song, and it will transport you to heaven. ……….. or perhaps to a stable in Bethlehem.
