Reflection:

Back in the 1970s, there was a controversial Musical on the world stage called HAIR, and one of its popular songs was called: The Age of Aquarius by the 5th Dimension. The lyrics of the Song were based on the astrological belief that the world would soon be entering the “Age of Aquarius”, an age of love, light, and humanity. It seems, according to this Song, we are still waiting! Or are we?

Looking at the first reading today, we see St Luke and his community giving us a real understanding of harmony and togetherness and letting the light in, the light of the Risen Lord. The picture painted for us is that of an enthusiastic community of people who were walking Gospel editions. Gospel values were an integral part of their spiritual DNA. Hence, the community was full of compassion, sharing and responding to the needs of people. Truly the age of the Risen Lord.

Let’s go deep sea diving into God’s Word to discover what was in Jesus that caused this kind of oneness, joy, happiness, and enthusiasm? Part of the answer is found in today’s Gospel passage. The invitation from Jesus is that we must first enter our inner realm, where this action happens in our response to the Word, therefore figuratively being reborn. In other words, to see the world in a completely unique way, following the example of Jesus whose total response was fired by his filial relationship with the Father and being urged by the Spirit.

Hence, the living of a Christ centered life, is always the source of spirit filled healing.

How do we feed our Spiritual life? Do we make time for listening to the Lord in prayer? Or are we too busy telling the Lord what to do? Are we daring in our daily Christian life like the early Christian Community? Food for Thought!
