Easter Tuesday

Acts 2:36-41
John 20: 11-18
Reflection:
As we rejoice once again in the power of resurrection, it leads me to find hope in the face of the collapse of mutual trust and respect for the needs and rights of others in the world. Our world is thrashing round in a veritable epidemic of tension, mistrust and self- promotion at the expense of the people in our midst who are most vulnerable. We have so recently shared again the story of the world’s greatest act of love. We celebrate Jesus’ willingness to stand by his word and to put his life on the line as a thrilling reminder of how life can be if we dare to trust in his life-giving and risen presence. He refuses to promote himself at the cost of others. From Calvary’s cross, we see him being true to the words he has spoken always in good times and in trying times also. His glorious prayer of forgiveness, as he surrenders his life in the face of disrespect, rejection and failure, shows us the life-enhancing power as he empties himself and extends his hand of welcome to the repentant thief. This is the way to rebuild a crumbling world. And that’s reason enough to rejoice. Our faith calls out with Mary and those other disciples: “He is risen indeed”
