THE PASSION OF JESUS IN THE GOSPEL OF ST. MARK

The Passion of Jesus in the Gospel of St. Mark becomes a feature of the Passionist Companions Programme during 2004. The Companions will be invited to take up the Passion in St. Mark's Gospel for their own personal reading, prayer and reflection during the year.

Reflections and prayers on the Passion in the Gospel of St. Mark will be distributed. Passionist Companions will be invited to reflect on this Gospel when they meet together.

THE PASSION TODAY

The Passionist Companions Programme 2004 will reflect on the Crucified of today and our Passionist Charism

Christ's Passion continues today in the many people who are suffering: the unemployed, those who fear the events which are happening around them, the anxious and the afflicted in prisons, the victims of absurd and ruthless violence. The Passion continues for the elderly who have been cast aside and are all alone - and how many suffer this loneliness! The Passion continues in those who are awaiting justice which is not forthcoming. How many people, for whatever reason, have had to leave their homeland, and do not find welcome in their new lands - many of whom are probably in our communities right now and have no sense of ‘home’? ” - Cardinal Carlo Maria Martini, S.J.
